The 2010-2011 financial year was a record year for The R E Ross Trust. Over $7 million of grants were approved and over $5.3 million of approved grants were paid to organisations during the year.

Annual Report 2009-2010
In 2009-2010 the Trust received 139 applications. Of the 139 received the Trustees approved 90 requests totalling $3,333,174. The total grants paid, approved either during this year or in previous years was totalled at $5,315,615.

Annual Report 2008-2009
In the 2008-2009 year, the Trust received 190 applications. Of the 190 received, the Trustees approved 97 requests totalling $4,670,696 to be paid either in this year or over the next three years. The total grants paid that had been approved either during this year or in previous years totalled $4,424,031.

Annual Report 2007-2008
In the 2007-2008 year the Trust received 150 applications. Of the 150 received, the Trustees approved 116 requests totalling $6,584,529 to be paid either in this year or over three years. The Trust paid grants totalling $3,714,042 during the 2007-2008 year to organisations for charitable purposes.

Annual Report 2006-2007
In 2006-2007 the Trust approved 118 grants totalling $4,413,940. The Trust paid 164 grants totalling $3,901,294 to organisations for grants approved in 2006-2007 and previous years.

Annual Report 2005-2006
During 2005-2006, the Ross Trust turned 35. Since the first Trustees met on 1 November 1970, the Trust has made grants totalling $63,718,812 and at 30 June 2006 the estimated market value of the Trust's assets was $76.94 million.
During 2005-2006, the Trust received a total of 198 applications and 129 were successful in receiving all or part of their request. The Trust made 183 grant payments totalling $3,592,054 that had been approved during the year or in previous years.

Annual Report 2004-2005
Of the 253 applications received during 2004-2005, 187 were successful in receiving all or part of their requested grant amount. The 187 grants approved totalled $5,177,003 to be paid in this and future years.

Annual Report 2003-2004
The Ross Trust approved $5.8 million in grants during the year, of which $3.9 million were distributed during 2003-2004. The largest grant paid during the year was $388,958 and the smallest was $230.

The Ross Trust acknowledges that most not-for-profit organisations must seek their funding from a diverse range of sources - government and philanthropic grants, commercial business sponsorships and donations from businesses and individuals. One of the aims of the Ross Trust is to help not-for-profit organisations improve their capacity to source the funds they need to meet community need.

Conversations about Possibilities - Themes and reflections from the International Philanthropy Collaboration

The International Philanthropy Collaboration was an initiative of The Ross Trust in collaboration with the Myer Foundation and the Ian Potter Foundation.
The Collaboration was a conversation where ideas, experiences and opinions were freely exchanged to encourage learning amongst peers. The participation of different types of foundations from different countries and cultures, histories and ways of operating made the conversation rich.

Funding for Impact
This presentation was made to members of Philanthropy Australia in November 2006 on the results of the Overseas Study Tour undertaken by the Ross Trust's Executive Officer, Sylvia Geddes.
The presentation includes the questions the Trust asked itself as a consequence of the findings of the Study Tour and which led to the development of the revised Grant Guidelines effective from December 2006.
